Event: Major Taylor Mountain Summit 2021

Location: Blowing Rock, North Carolina
We want to welcome you to ride in the high mountains this year in Blowing Rock, NC just outside of Boone, for our 20th Major Taylor Mountain Summit.
Three days of riding in the local mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Mostly quiet back roads in addition to the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway and climbs used by the old Tour DuPont road race in the 1990s.
The main routes average 60 miles and 5000ft of climbing. The Grand Master routes average 35 miles with 3000ft of climbing.
Summit Format
The event format has been altered to prevent crowding at the start and maintain distance at the start, on the roads, rest stops, and at the finish. We will encourage each club/group to ride in their bubble each day. Riders will be given the opportunity to select a start time for some or all of the people in their group.
Gatherings
All non-event social gatherings have been eliminated. Preventative Safety Measures Safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus have been added prior to and during the event.
Accommodations
Event organizers will provide a list of lodging partners for participants traveling from out of town. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations throughout the event. Detailed information on participants will be recorded in case contact tracing becomes necessary. Participants will be advised to wear masks in all public spaces and common areas in their accommodations and follow all state and local health department guidelines.
Registration Pick Up Location
To be announced Protocol: Registration area will be set up with a dedicated entrance and exit for one-way foot traffic and marked by signage and markings as needed. Marks will be used to maintain 6 feet between riders while in queue. Masks are mandatory within the packet pickup area. Staff and volunteers, wearing masks and gloves, will hand off packets to participants. Hand Sanitizer, gloves, and masks will be available to staff and volunteers as needed..
Rides Meet and Start
All rides meet at 10 am depending on the weather in the rotary gazebo. Any changes will be announced in the news right sidebar
