Dining Options in and near Blowing Rock:

Walkable from downtown Blowing Rock

  •  Village Café:  Breakfast, lunch, and quality coffee.
  • Bistro Roca:  Wood-fired pizzas and other upscale fares.  Note they are closed daily from 3 to 5 PM.

  • New Public House:  meat-heavy entrees, burgers, salads, and a decent selection of small plates.

  • Mellow Mushroom Pizza and Pasta:  Atlanta-based pizza joint that uses whole wheat crust.  They have an impressive craft beer list, too.

  • Blowing Rock Brewing:  Solid local beer, and a surprisingly good food menu – with burgers, salads, chops, and more.

  • Best Cellar:  High-end meat and seafood in a log cabin.  Dinner only.

  • Twigs:  Locally-sourced quality southern cuisine, with a decent number of vegetarian options.

  • Storie Street Grille:  Large menu, with lots of small plates, salads, and a specialty of Mediterranean dishes.  They also have some tasty-looking meat entrees and specialty pasta and flatbreads.

  • Blowing Rock Market:  A little overpriced, but undeniably centrally located.  Made to order sandwiches, fresh coffee, grocery basics, and a great beer and wine selection.  Opens at 7 AM.

Farther Away, but Worth the Drive

  • Woodlands BBQ:  they usually have bluegrass music on tap.

  • Foggy Rock:  Eclectic menu, that includes avocado sandwiches, mac n cheese, Philly cheesesteak, and southwestern egg rolls.

  • The Gamekeeper:  Elegant dining in a rustic cabin, with a focus on locally sourced wild game.

  • Table at Crestwood:  Higher-end fare, with great sunset views.  One of the coolest bars in the area at the Dawg Star Bar.

In Boone, NC – a moderate-sized college town

Nearby Boone is full of restaurants and breweries are only a 20-minute drive away.   There are three breweries in Boone, with Appalachian Mountain probably the best (with food trucks outside).   Lost Province Brewing does Belgians and has some quality food fare. Restaurants worth checking out are the Pedalin’ Pig (bbq), Coyote Café (Caribbean and Soul food), Black Cat Burritos, Our Daily Bread (gourmet sandwiches), WildCraft Food (healthy stuff), and the Daniel Boone Inn (Southern comfort food).
